Faith, Not Fear—Preparing For The Great Harvest

By Jorge Parrott

All Scripture references are New King James version.

Today we are seeing the largest mass migration of people fleeing war and terror since World War II. This massive exodus is chaotic and is without a Moses to lead it. The so-called god of the fleeing masses has not heard their cries, and they flee in darkness looking for hope and a better life somewhere, anywhere.

Political correctness and human secularism blinded the receiving nations in Europe for a time, but now we see some awakening. Pray it is not too late. Many nations, including the Americas, are in fear of this unknown tide of immigrants. News reports are increasing, proving that terrorists are hiding in the midst of this tsunami of souls. As watchmen, how do we sound the alarm to awaken those who sleep during these attempts to overthrow nations in Europe and the Americas?

At times it seems that the forces of evil are driving even our own government on the path of self-destruction. Many of our own policies and laws appear to be written by those intent on our nation’s destruction. How blind we can become when we turn our back on the Lord.

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance” (Psalm 33:12).

We hear often that more and more of the world’s problems are beyond human remedy. That is fast becoming an understatement, yet painfully true. We are all given the same measure of faith that is surely sufficient for the completion of our task now at hand—even though it seems insurmountable in our own strength. We serve the God of the impossible.

A Great Opportunity Is Available To Us Right Now

We are given a great opportunity during this trying time, and we are exhorted to overcome fear with bold faith in these days. As Hebrews 12:2 assures us: “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” We have this eternal joy given to us for our strength. May we receive the revelation the Lord is sending us to walk in the fullness of His joy in the face of the darkness spreading across the earth. Could it be one of our assignments for these times is God’s way of expecting us to arise to meet this new challenge—to demonstrate His love and power?

Introducing a Series of Forums on Arabic Culture and Islam

Recently we began a series of forums regarding how to deal with the topic some have called “Islamic extremism.” The first one was held in Moravian Falls at The Gathering Place, hosted by Pastor David White and myself. The guest speakers were partners in missions that we know personally.

We had an amazing panel of speakers, including Kamran Yaraei, who was born in Iran and has encountered Jesus many times. Eugene Bach was also a speaker.  He serves with Back to Jerusalem (BTJ), which has many Chinese missionaries in closed and/or Islamic nations, and has spoken at MorningStar in Fort Mill and also at our Missions Conference last August in Moravian Falls. Eugene is a fabulous and passionate communicator, sharing front line reports of the Great Commission work of the Chinese in many closed nations in the 10/40 window. Eugene told us that less than two pennies of every one hundred dollars given is used for evangelizing in this 10/40 window, where two of every three people alive on earth now live. He and BTJ are one of our strategic alliance partners being used of the Lord in heroic faith ways to infiltrate behind “enemy” lines to see the Lord lifted up as He draws all men unto Himself.

Last year, BTJ missionaries helped rescue four hundred Yazidi women enslaved by ISIS terrorists. BTJ workers house them with hope in Iraq as they offer comfort and restoration. Help us pray for and financially support their work in the Middle East and Asia. As I write this, one of their Amish friends was just kidnapped in Kurdistan, Iraq. Pray for their workers and friends risking their lives to give hope in Jesus to hurting refugees.

Pastor Daniel also joined us online. Daniel, whose identity we won’t reveal, was also born in Iran and has been ministering for years to fleeing refugees and Muslims, winning many to Jesus. Last year, an attempt on Daniel’s life was made by poisoning him slowly with antifreeze. Miraculously, the Lord spared his life.

Daniel has hosted teams from MS/CM Missions in the refugee camps and centers he has set up. I have personally met former Al Qaeda and Taliban terrorists who have been taken into the presence of our Lord by Daniel’s effective and patient fellowship. They experienced extreme and beautiful transformation and have become loving, servant hearted brothers. The fields are white unto harvest and the laborers are few. Help us help Daniel in prayer and support.

John Cava, former Missions Director at the Fire School in Pensacola, Florida, whom Bob Jones prophesied over in the late 1990s would be sending many “leaderships” out to the nations from their school, also offered a balanced view on ministry to Muslims. He does not enter into debate or discussion of the Koran but rather focuses on pointing people to Jesus and His glory. John’s ministry is nearby and we work closely with him as he still trains many for effective and fruitful missions of service. John has trained many couples with some of the most effective discipleship training I have witnessed. He provides his students with an in-depth cross cultural training and preparation to living a surrendered life as a missionary into closed and open nations.

One of his students, whom I met a few years ago, was tragically martyred in the Middle East. He was shot twenty times in the head before he died in the arms of one of our dear friends, who we also work with in the Middle East.

Mark Siljander, a former U.S. Congressman and UN Ambassador, speaks Aramaic and served in several Middle Eastern nations. He and his team were in Moravian Falls, online from China, the Mideast, and Virginia. Mark wrote a book called A Deadly Misunderstanding that some have said overly compromises the Gospel. Some have even said Mark promotes “Chrislam.” We have had some trusted friends, including a former Muslim, question Mark and “look into his soul” and attest to his sincere belief in Jesus as Lord and Savior. These MorningStar friends are helping Mark communicate his message more clearly and take down the wall of misunderstanding that has arisen in some of his message to fellow Christians.

Mark and his team with Bridges to Common Ground sent in a team of negotiators into North Sudan two years ago and helped gain the release of Miriam Ibrahim, who was imprisoned with one child and gave birth to a second child in captivity. Their teams have gained the release of many humanitarian aid or government workers in several Muslim nations. Each one shared their insights and hearts on how to speak with Muslims about Jesus. Not all are in agreement in methods of presenting the Gospel, but each one has demonstrable fruit in their ministries.

Here is the simple prayer that Kamran shared during the forum about his approach to discussions with Muslims. He gave examples of how the Lord has shown him how to begin to open a dialogue and win hearts. He said, “Jesus, I don’t believe You are the Son of God, but if You are, take my heart. Jesus, I don’t believe Your blood has any power, but if it does, take my sins away. Jesus, if You can, which I don’t believe You can, give me a relationship with God, then I give You full permission to do so.” Many who have prayed this prayer have seen Jesus answer their prayer and have received Him as Lord and Savior. Kamran shared lovingly how he did not choose to be born a Muslim or to be born in Iran. Do we get to choose our birthplace or origins? We are called to play a part in the Great Commission to share the good news and see the kingdom expand.

Everything Is Being Shaken

Daniel, also a former Muslim, shared this: “Do not use the term moderate Muslim. You either follow the Koran or you don’t.” Daniel’s firm stance comes from years of being imprisoned and tortured. He told me how he wishes that he was in prison longer because Jesus came to visit him in person every day. Daniel is the grandson of an Ayatollah and trained to be an imam. He has served for years helping refugees and won many to the Lord, releasing the Father’s heart without compromise or watering down the Gospel. Daniel shared how Islam itself is being shaken, just as Christianity and the world’s systems are being shaken.

There seems to be confusion when it comes to the term “moderate” Muslim. What does the Bible say about a “lukewarm” Christian? The “Laodicean” spirit in the Western church is also being shaken at this time. We are reminded of the Scripture verse in,

Hebrews 12:27: “Now this, ‘Yet once more,’ indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain.”

We are learning more about how to love and minister to those of different cultures and beliefs. The various methods that our guest speakers use all produce results. We each need to seek the Lord for wisdom, discernment, and heaven’s strategies in our day-to-day impact and discipleship of the nations. We each need to know the Lord, His Word, and the Holy Spirit to become more effective in reaching the whole world for Jesus.
